Baby Boy Blue Winter Dog Clothes

Here is our precious customer, Taylor, all decked out in his winter warmies.

This Nordic design sweater is one of our favorites. Coffee brown, cookie beige, and soft blues.

Perfect to keep your little guy warm and cozy on a chilly morning walk.

Our customers in Norway and the other Scandinavian countries love this design. Whether you are from Norway or North Carolina, this is a lovely soft and comfortable sweater for your little dog.

Here's Taylor in the Zack & Zoey Snow Lodge Vest, a puffer style, lined with sky blue fleece. The cozy hood detaches for later in the year. Lovely upbeat robin's egg blue adds a lot of cute to a lot of comfort.

Taylor's got cute down cold, with a number of different looks shown here.

I just love his flyaway ears and happy smile.

Sleeve Dogs

When I was a kid my favorite non-fiction reading was all about the different dog breeds. At that time there were far fewer small dog breeds available. My parents raised Dachshunds for the show ring and trained Labrador Retrievers for hunting, but I was kind of a train spotter type when it came to dogs,  always noticing the different breeds wherever I went.

One of my favorite of all little dogs was the Pekingese. Two of them lived right next door to my grandma's house, and their owner was a friendly lady who let us talk to her little Pekes. Their goldfish swishy gait, the bit of attitude in their approach, and just the exotic luxury of their coats and overall design simply captivated me. In the books I read there were stories of the Chinese Mandarins tucking these little dogs into their long, full sleeves. They were the breed to watch at dog shows, with their confident carriage and fabulous coiffures.

Today I was reminded of this enchantment when I discovered that we have new Pekingese customers!
Here they are in all the variety and charm of this ancient breed.

If you want to learn more about them and their super-responsible breeder, you'll find lots of information on her website: click here

I love reading informative sites like this, as I'm still so interested in all the variety in the dog kingdom. It is also comforting to know that there are super responsible dog breeders out there who do a fantastic job of caring for the dogs that they raise. The guidelines given for this kennel represent the kind of high standards that prospective buyers of purebred dogs should look for when they begin their search for a new puppy.

What a lovely reminder of those charming Pekingese dogs that I knew so long ago. If I were a member of the ancient Chinese court, you can be sure I'd have one of these in both my sleeves.

Absolutely gorgeous dogs. How could you pick just one?

Roll Tide!

Here is our adorable customer, Onyx, wearing his University of Alabama varsity jacket.

This beautiful dog is a new pet and already a serious Alabama fan. Onyx wore his new jacket for the game this week. He looks great in the spotlight, and we hope to feature more pictures of this lovely new pet in the future.

Here he is intently watching the Crimson Tide make history.
(Onyx's jacket is Crimson red, but the flash has dulls it a bit - just a camera effect.)

Onyx's darling owner bought him this jacket right after he was adopted. We sent it without a sales receipt, in order to keep a Christmas gift secret from the family. How fun to be in on the surprise!

Here is a fuzzy shot of the front and back of this varsity style jacket.

There's nothing like the fun of meeting a new dog and its family and helping another
University of Alabama dog get some gorgeous gear. After this week's game we'll be
restocking our Alabama items, and plan to set up a permanent page in the store for all
our fantastic Crimson Tide fans.

Welcome to Onyx, our newest Dog City Dime Store customer!

You are a lovely dog, and wear the team colors and logo with dignity and pride.
Thanks so much for joining us, and to all our Alabama fans -

ROLL TIDE!

We Heart Dogs

Today we added more fun Valentine's Day goodies to the store. Starting with a tennis ball that has sweetheart messages on it, by Zanies These are called the Catch Some Love designs.

The perfect shirt for your dog. We all know that dogs wear their hearts on their sleeves, or in this
case, backs. Cute and comfortable. The reason dogs love these clothes is that they are attention
magnets. Who wouldn't want to pet a puppy wearing a cutie little shirt like this one.

And what about this eye-catching heart kaleidoscope print? This is lightweight and comfy, perfect for the fairer weather states right now, and just so cute for some Valentine's Day photo cards or party invitations.

Our dogs are cueing us that this is semi-hibernating season, and they spend a lot of time lounging on their portable beds. In fact, they drag their lighter-weight bolster beds around the house and arrange them wherever they please. (Usually near the closest floor heater outlet.)

So here are some cozy crate beds that you can put in the car, or take to a friend's house when you visit. Many obedience teachers work to teach the command, "Go to your place," which helps a dog to have a safe and familiar spot in an unfamiliar setting. These puppies are enjoying some long winter's rest on their new beds.

We have these in the dark roast coffee brown as well as the cheerful watermelon pink.

Our dogs love that bolster edge as a chin rest, and also like to have a little boundary around the edge.

These wash easily, just hang in the laundry room
for a day and they are dry. Non-skid bottom surface, so they can go anywhere.

If you have a van or SUV with some space in back, these are the perfect traveling gear.

This dark roast mocha java brown promises to not show a speck of dirt.

We're stocking lots of new items this week, so be sure you stop by and visit the store.
Also, get some well-deserved rest after all the business of the Christmas season. Making those holiday memories happen doesn't just happen, as we know so well.
